Job summary

Parkland Health is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technician to install, modify, repair and troubleshoot voice and data systems, ensuring services meet customer needs. The role requires a strong electronics background, the ability to read blueprints, and precise, reliable work.

You will plan and schedule complex telecom projects, install and maintain equipment, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with vendors and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Five years of telecommunications experience in wiring, cabling, repair, and installation.
• Equivalents accepted: education/experience in lieu of specific requirements.
• Must read blueprints and have expert knowledge of digital telecommunications systems.
• Ability to operate word processing and telecommunications data management software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, review, and schedule complex telecommunications work requests.
• Install, modify, repair, and maintain voice and data telecommunications systems and hardware.
• Move and install telephones, jacks, terminals, answering machines, etc.
• Troubleshoot systems and hardware problems, perform diagnostics and replacements with vendor coordination.
• Serve as a knowledge resource and train staff as needed.
• Maintain daily production records and inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Stay current with developments in telecommunications through seminars and literature.
• Ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and program requirements.
