Job summary

MANTECH seeks a Phone Technician Lead in McLean, VA to install, maintain, and support VoIP and legacy phone systems. You will lead a multi-skilled team, balancing hands-on tech work with admin duties to ensure high-quality service for our Northern Virginia clients.

The role requires strong telecom knowledge, proven leadership, and the ability to manage cabling, troubleshooting, and telephony configurations.

Qualifications

High school diploma with 11+ years of experience, or an associate’s degree with 9+ years, or a bachelor’s degree with 7+ years.
Strong knowledge of cabling methodologies, standards, and reading cable run lists.
Experience installing endpoints including VoIP and digital phones and network switches.
Proven ability to lead a technical team in telecom or IT support.
Experience resolving hardware, network, and telecommunications issues.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of Phone Technicians across installation, maintenance, and hardware troubleshooting.
Oversee cabling tasks including pulling, terminating, and dressing cabling per standards.
Diagnose and resolve complex telephony issues, including dropped calls and faulty connections.
Provision and configure telephony features: call routing, voicemail, extensions.
Train and develop technicians to improve performance.
Travel locally between customer sites in Northern Virginia; support special projects.
Perform HR duties as assigned (interviewing, hiring, performance counseling).
Work 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. shifts; respond to emergencies and extended hours when needed.
