Job summary

North Slope Telecom, Inc is seeking an experienced Telecom Technician to install and maintain communications systems across Alaska. The role involves testing circuits, ensuring safety, and following engineering diagrams.

You will travel within the state up to 75% of the year and interact with customers to demonstrate equipment. Applicants should have at least five years in telecommunications, familiarity with VOIP and data networks, and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; post-secondary electronics preferred.
• At least 5 years verifiable experience in telecommunications.
• Experience establishing voice and data networks; ability to inspect and test lines and cables.

Responsibilities

• Test circuits and components of malfunctioning telecom equipment to isolate issues; use various hand tools.
• Test repaired or updated equipment to ensure function and compliance with specs.
• Repair or replace faulty equipment such as telephones, wires, and switch components.
• Remove and remake connections to change circuit layouts per plans and diagrams.
• Demonstrate equipment to customers and address inquiries or complaints.
• Analyze test readings and trouble reports to determine repair needs and methods.
• Adjust or modify equipment to improve performance and respond to customer requests.
• Run appropriate power, ground, or coaxial cables.
• Install transmission equipment components including antennas and surge arrestors.
• Work safely at all times and complete required trainings and assessments.
