Job summary

North Slope Telecom, Inc. seeks Tower Technicians to install and maintain communications equipment across Alaska. The role involves climbing towers, rigging, testing, and ensuring safety in a harsh environment, with travel approx 50%-75% within Alaska.

Ideal candidates have at least two years telecom experience, a valid driver’s license, and a DOT drug screen; certification in Tower Climbing Safety is required. Arctic conditions require strong physical fitness and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Post-secondary electronics education preferred.
• At least 2 years verifiable experience in required skills.

Responsibilities

• Read work orders, blueprints, and plans to determine tasks.
• Mobilize and prep tools and materials for remote sites.
• Install, test, and maintain telecom equipment and cabling.
• Inspect and ensure safety, weatherproofing, and proper connections.

Responsibilities:

• Checkantennapositioningtoensurespecifiedazimuthsormechanicaltiltsandadjustasnecessary.
• Replaceexistingantennaswithnewantennasasdirected.
• Installallnecessarytransmissionequipmentcomponents,includingantennasorantennamounts,surgearrestors,transmissionlines,connectors,ortower-mountedamplifiers(TMAs).ISP.Microwave.
• Performbasicrigging,usinghaul&tagsystems.TiesolidknotsincludingtheFigureeight,Prussic,AlpinebutterflyandWaterknot
• Testoperationoftowertransmissioncomponents,usingsweeptestingtoolsorsoftware.
• Inspectcompletedworktoensureallhardwareistight,antennasarelevel,hangersareproperlyfastened,propersupportisinplace,oradequateweatherproofinghasbeeninstalled.
• Takesitesurveyphotosorphotosofworkperformed,usingdigitalcameras.
• Completereportsrelatedtoprojectstatus,progress,safetyreportingorotherworkdetails,usingcomputersoftware.
• Conductsselfsafelyatalltimes,ensuresasafeareaforothers,andcompletesrequiredtraining,assessmentsandreportstimely.ParticipatesinTHAortailgatejobsitemeetingsandcomplieswithclientsafetyprocedures.
• AnyotherworkforwhichyouhavetheskillsandabilitytoperformthatfurthersthegoalsofNSTIandmeetstheneedsofitscustomers.
