Job summary

Verizon is seeking a telecom technician to install, monitor, test and maintain our fiber network and associated equipment. You’ll work onsite at a defined Nashville location, coordinating with multiple groups to ensure service quality.

The role requires a Bachelor’s or equivalent experience, a valid driver’s license, ability to lift up to 60 pounds, and willingness to travel. On-call shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 1+ years of relevant experience demonstrated through work or military experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel up to ~25% of the time.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job.
• Willingness to work on-call, rotating schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Knowledge of equipment from Cisco, Siemens, Fujitsu, Alcatel and Ciena.

Responsibilities

• Install, monitor, test and maintain telecom equipment in facilities and on customer property.
• Maintain the integrity of the fiber optic network for best-in-class customer experience.
• Assemble, install, test and turn up high-speed transport gear (Ciena, Tellabs, Fujitsu, ROADM).
• Install Cisco routers and Ethernet systems to provide services.
• Coordinate test, turn up and acceptance with local and remote teams.
• Perform fiber splicing/termination and troubleshoot to restore circuits.
