Job summary

Verizon is seeking a field telecom technician to install, monitor, test, and maintain telecommunications and related equipment at technical facilities and customer sites. You will ensure the integrity of the fiber network to deliver a best-in-class customer experience.

You will assemble and turn up high-speed transport gear, install Cisco routers, and coordinate with various teams. Travel up to ~25% and flexibility for on-call, nights, weekends, and holidays are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 1+ year of relevant experience demonstrated through work or military experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willingness to travel up to ~25% of the time.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job.
• Willingness to work on-call, rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Knowledge of transmission equipment from Cisco, Siemens, Fujitsu, Alcatel and Ciena.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test and turn up high speed transport equipment (e.g., Ciena 6500, Tellabs 7100, Fujitsu 9500, ROADM equipment).
• Install Cisco routers and ethernet systems to provide ethernet services.
• Conduct fiber locates and coordinate with outside plant engineering for planned work.
• Perform fiber splicing and termination on various cable types.
• Maintain circuits through troubleshooting and fault isolation.
• Use test equipment to isolate and resolve customer outages.
• Coordinate test, turn up, and acceptance of customer service with local and remote teams.
