Job summary

Verizon is seeking a field technician to install, monitor, and maintain telecom equipment both at customer sites and in technical facilities. You will ensure the integrity of the fiber network and support high-speed services with equipment from Cisco, Ciena, Fujitsu and others.

You will assemble, test, and turn up equipment, coordinate with engineering teams, and handle fault isolation while traveling to sites and working a flexible schedule including nights and weekends when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or one or more years of relevant experience demonstrated through work or military experience.
• Willingness to travel up to ~25% of the time.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job.
• Willingness to work on-call and rotating shifts including nights, weekends, holidays.
• Knowledge of Cisco, Siemens, Fujitsu, Alcatel, and Ciena transmission equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install, monitor, test and maintain telecommunications equipment in facilities and on customer sites.
• Maintain fiber optic network integrity to ensure best-in-class customer experience.
• Assemble, install, test and turn up high-speed transport equipment (e.g., Ciena 6500, Tellabs 7100, Fujitsu 9500).
• Install Cisco routers and ethernet systems to provide services.
• Coordinate testing, turn up and acceptance of customer service with local and remote groups.
