Job summary

Verizon Communications is seeking a technically skilled telecom professional to assemble, install, test, and turn up high-speed transport equipment. You will also install Cisco routers and Ethernet systems, perform fiber splicing, and troubleshoot circuits to ensure reliable service.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience, valid driver’s license, and be able to travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of relevant experience demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.
Willingness to travel up to ~25% of the time.
Ability to perform physical requirements of the job.
Willingness to work on-call, rotating schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Knowledge of transmission equipment from Cisco, Siemens, Fujitsu, Alcatel, and Ciena.

Responsibilities

Assemble, install, test and turn up high speed transport equipment (e.g., Ciena, Tellabs, Fujitsu, ROADM).
Install Cisco routers and Ethernet systems to provide services.
Conduct fiber locates and coordinate with outside plant engineering for construction/relocation.
Perform fiber splicing and termination for new builds and restorations.
Maintain circuits through troubleshooting and fault isolation.
Use test equipment to diagnose and resolve outages.
Coordinate test, turn up and acceptance with local and remote groups.
