University of Michigan Information and Technology Services is seeking a Telecom Installation & Maintenance Supervisor Intermediate to oversee planning, installation and maintenance of the campus communication networks. Qualifications

• Associate degree in telecommunications, computer systems, engineering, business or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Considerable experience in communication systems, installations and repair tasks with major telecom vendors or providers.
• 4+ years of management or team leadership experience including confidentiality, timeliness, customer service, organization and supervision responsibilities.
• Proven ability to lead installation and repair teams delivering products/services that exceed customer expectations.
• 7 years of experience in medium to large telecomm systems or networking components.
• Experience with provisioning/installing communication systems and network services/products.
• Basic proficiency in reading AutoCAD drawings.
• Knowledge of network analysis and troubleshooting activities including LAN, fiber, copper, and related systems.
• Ability to drive a University of Michigan vehicle and maintain a valid license.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on planning, design, utilization and optimization of communications systems and networks to meet current and future requirements for U-M.
• Develop and implement methodologies for network analysis of service performance and customer satisfaction improvements.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and propose enterprise solutions to enhance network performance and operations.
• Supervise and coordinate installation teams and contracted labor; oversee schedules and performance.
• Coordinate employee training and resolve complaints using disciplined processes.
• Plan and oversee construction, maintenance and repair of voice, data and video networks; ensure safety and compliance.
• Support long-range objectives and work with stakeholders to influence decisions and drive project success.
• Perform financial analyses, budgeting and cost optimization for network infrastructure initiatives.
• Order supplies, review records and manage procurement processes for network projects.
• Share knowledge, mentor staff and promote best practices across teams.
