Job summary

Upstate Medical University is seeking a Telecommunications Specialist responsible for the daily maintenance of campus telephone equipment and associated applications. The role requires an Associate's degree and a strong background in telecommunications infrastructure design.

Ideal candidates will have excellent communication skills, experience in telecommunications, and knowledge of installation standards. Working knowledge of relevant software, including MS Office, Visio or AutoCAD, is also desired.

Responsible for the daily maintenance of the campus telephone equipment, cabling and associated applications.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree and three years of related experience to the Telecommunications industry or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus in depth knowledge of TIA/EIA 568 standards and excellent written and oral communications skills required. Must have a strong background and knowledge of the standards and design of telecommunications infrastructure, pathways, telecommunications room spacing and layout, grounding, fire-stopping and cabling. Working knowledge of MS Windows, MS Office and Visio or AutoCAD computer software, and possess project cost estimation and budgeting skills also desired.
