Job summary

DLR Group's Telecommunications + Security Design team is seeking an Electronic Security System Designer to join our Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, or other listed offices. This role focuses on designing telecommunications network cabling infrastructure from schematic through construction administration for diverse building types.

You will work with in-house architects, engineers, and other specialists to prepare telecommunication plans, specifications, and system narratives, travel for site

Qualifications

• RCDD certification through BICSI is required.
• Minimum 5 years in evaluating/designing telecommunications cabling infrastructure systems.
• Experience with Building Construction documents.
• Experience with BIM (Autodesk Revit) and AutoCAD workflows.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work within an active, multi-disciplined environment.
• Ability to meet deadlines for multiple projects.
• Ability to design and detail telecommunications plans and specifications with in-house architects, engineers, and specialty design staff.
• Willingness to travel for meetings, site visits and project interviews.
• Proficiency with a PDF mark-up tool (Bluebeam).

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing project objectives, goals, and documentation policies.
• Meet with client’s IT staff to determine project requirements and goals.
• Develop telecommunications cabling infrastructure designs from concept through completion of construction.
• Prepare telecom cabling infrastructure plans and specifications.
• Prepare detailed telecom systems reports and narratives.
• Coordinate Telecom design requirements with architecture, structure, mechanical, electrical, and other disciplines
