Job summary

Canonical is seeking a Telco Field Engineering Director to lead global Field Engineering teams across presales and delivery. You will design private/public cloud solutions for telco workloads, drive strategy, and coach engineers and managers while collaborating with partners and customers.

The role is home-based with up to 25% travel, focused on NFVi, Kubernetes, OpenStack, and telco cloud platforms. Strong English communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of telco NFVi and associated cloud infra tech.
• Familiarity with telco architecture and industry standards.
• Experience in presales and ability to explain complex tech to customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop managers and Field engineers in Presales and Professional Services.
• Promote Canonical technologies and act as trusted advisor to customers.
• Work remotely in a single major time zone.
• Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback.
• Identify and measure team health indicators.
• Implement disciplined engineering processes.
• Represent team and product to stakeholders, partners, customers.
• Develop and evangelise engineering and organizational practices.
• Plan and manage progress on goals and projects.
• Be active in leadership team with other leaders.
