Job summary

YMCA of Greater New York is seeking a Teen Advisor for Ridgewood YMCA. Under supervision, you will lead teen services and programs including Teen Center, Rowe Scholars, Leaders Club, and Saturday Night Lights.

You will advertise and recruit participants, manage documentation, and help meet program outcomes. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a commitment to youth development in a community-focused setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. College credits preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience with pre-teens and teens (ages 13+).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with Access, PageMaker, and Photoshop preferred.
• Must complete Mandated Reporter Training within 30 days of hire.
• Strong interpersonal skills and leadership abilities with diverse youth and adults.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health, safety, and well-being of participants with close supervision.
• Plan, create, and facilitate lesson plans for programs.
• Manage administrative data entry and participant paperwork; meet city and YMCA standards.
• Lead programming with emphasis on social-emotional learning and skill development.
• Foster diverse, inclusive environments and collaborate with staff across departments.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and events as required.
