Job summary

Yavapai County Information Technology Services (ITS) seeks a Technology Unit Manager to lead a skilled team of systems engineers and service desk staff in Prescott. You will align IT services with county department needs, delivering secure, efficient solutions and outstanding customer support.

Responsibilities include enforcing IT policies, budgeting for the unit, RFP planning, staff development, and strategic collaboration with senior management and external vendors.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of IT management and staff development experience.
• Experience with organizational budgeting and personnel management.
• Proven ability to interface with multiple departments and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Enforces and monitors compliance with IT policies and procedures.
• Prepares and monitors budget for the assigned IT unit.
• Interfaces with county department customers and determines solutions meeting best practices standards.
• Participates in budgeting, departmental policy development/maintenance, and quality improvement activities.
• Assists senior management in developing strategic goals, standards, protocols, and procedures.
• Prepares requests for proposals (RFP) and reviews submitted proposals.
• Supervises assigned staff and manages multiple concurrent work assignments.
• Directs the work of and manage staff of assigned unit.
• Participates in interviewing and the selection of new employees.
• Provides training and instruction and evaluates ongoing training needs.
• Assigns tasks, reviews work and prepares employee performance evaluations.
• Provides input regarding employee transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
• Serves as the point of contact and subject matter expert for IT system related projects with internal customers and outside vendors, including the coordination of contracted IT consultants.
