Primary Purpose:
Administer and operate the district's computer networks.
Develop, maintain, and monitor all District Local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN).
Responsible for installation, testing, and oversight of all network hardware, personal computers, servers, software, and related equipment.
Responsible for ensuring proper network security and compliance with all Federal, State and Local Laws.
Responsible for the maintenance and operation of district telephony, PA Broadcast, and video surveillance systems.
Qualification Guidelines:
Education/Certifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in network administration (preferred)
Knowledge of voice over IP telephony systems required
Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification preferred Microsoft MCSA or MCSE certification (preferred)
Experience:
Two years' experience performing network maintenance (preferred)
Two years' experience maintaining video surveillance system (preferred)
Two years' experience in telephone installation and maintenance (preferred)
Two years' experience in voice over IP telephony installation and maintenance (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to work with multiple operating systems and network protocols (i.e., UNIX, MS-DOS, Linux and MAC-OS)
Knowledge of LAN and WAN network design and installation
Knowledge of network hardware and software applications including network servers, printers, and other equipment Knowledge of electrical circuits and wiring and operating principals
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Management
1.Identify and resolve network hardware and software problems.
2.Install and test network hardware, software, and upgrades.
3.Perform routine preventive maintenance on hardware.
4.Implement and maintain all system configurations.
5. Coordinate and monitor system utilization; recommend improvements as needed.
Network Security
6.Develop and implement a districtwide security system for all systems; ensure network security by maintaining network, Internet, and E-mail accounts.
7.Design and implement backup procedures to ensure that backup of all networks and security systems may be recovered.
8.Assist with development and implementation of a disaster recovery plan.
Technical Support
9. Serve as liaison to software and hardware vendors to maintain appropriate product support.
10.Maintain network design and configuration documentation.
11.Help end users to identify and correct equipment and software related problems.
Other
12. Identify and recommend the acquisition of software and hardware to meet the automation and networking needs of district staff.
13.Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
14.Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.
