Job Description
Primary Purpose: To assist certified professional staff with students in all educational environments to meet instructional goals and objectives.
Salary: $7.25 Hourly
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
- A senior in Victoria ISD
- Enrolled as a student in the Education and Training Pathway
- Currently hold or working on obtaining their Educational Aid Certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Use standard office equipment such as computers and copiers.
- Knowledge of proper school procedures and etiquette.
- Ability to establish and maintain solid customer service relations with general public, students, employees and outside organizations.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Assists teaching staff and campus administration in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize learning opportunities for all students.
- Assists and guides all students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
- Works with assigned students individually, in small groups, or whole group to reinforce and re-teach basic learning.
- Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
- Assists with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
- Assists with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task.
- Assists all students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising bus duty, playground duty, car duty and other related noninstructional areas.
- Assists staff in preparing educational materials as needed.
- Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
- Other duties as assigned.
Student Growth and Development
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.
Classroom Management and Organization
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Communication
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development
- Participate in professional development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, moving of small equipment.
