Job summary

Victoria ISD CAREER TECH CENTER in Victoria, Texas seeks an Education & Training Student Worker to assist certified staff with students across instructional environments, helping meet instructional goals and objectives. The position is part-time with a starting date of Aug 12, 2026; pay is $7.25 hourly.

Duties include assisting teachers, supporting classroom management, record-keeping, and supervising non-instructional areas as needed.

Qualifications

  • Assist teaching staff and campus administration in classroom instruction.
  • Support students to reinforce reading, language arts, math and computer skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teaching staff and campus administration in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize learning opportunities.
  • Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
  • Work with students individually, in small groups, or whole group to reteach basic learning.
  • Assist with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
  • Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions and keep students on task.
  • Supervise non-instructional areas (bus, playground, car duty) as needed.
  • Prepare educational materials as required and ensure safety procedures are followed.

Job Description

Primary Purpose: To assist certified professional staff with students in all educational environments to meet instructional goals and objectives.

Salary: $7.25 Hourly

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • A senior in Victoria ISD
  • Enrolled as a student in the Education and Training Pathway
  • Currently hold or working on obtaining their Educational Aid Certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Use standard office equipment such as computers and copiers.
  • Knowledge of proper school procedures and etiquette.
  • Ability to establish and maintain solid customer service relations with general public, students, employees and outside organizations.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assists teaching staff and campus administration in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize learning opportunities for all students.
  • Assists and guides all students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
  • Works with assigned students individually, in small groups, or whole group to reinforce and re-teach basic learning.
  • Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
  • Assists with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
  • Assists with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task.
  • Assists all students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising bus duty, playground duty, car duty and other related noninstructional areas.
  • Assists staff in preparing educational materials as needed.
  • Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Student Growth and Development
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.
Classroom Management and Organization
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Communication
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, moving of small equipment.
