Job summary

Toyota is seeking a skilled Technician for the Integrated Vehicle Systems Department. The role focuses on hands-on vehicle work, retrofitting sensors, data collection, and performing evaluations on public roads and closed courses.

You will ensure safe test operations, manage software updates, and collaborate with engineering teams. A valid license and tooling expertise are required, with travel up to 50% to support testing needs.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 2+ years of related work experience requested.
• Hands-on experience with data-acquisition equipment for vehicle or system testing preferred.
• Experience updating vehicle system software and providing or receiving troubleshooting support via phone or video.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, manuals and technical specs.
• Proficiency with onboard diagnostic and CAN tools to troubleshoot vehicle systems.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to build/test fixtures with hand and shop tools.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a passionate and highly motivated Technician who enjoys hands‑on vehicle work, technical troubleshooting, data collection, and supporting safe, high‑quality evaluations.

Reporting to the Technician Supervisor, you will maintain test vehicles and equipment, retrofit vehicle systems, and execute evaluations on public roads and closed test courses. Your work will help ensure reliable test operations, accurate evaluation results, and a safe working environment for the team.

What You’ll Be Doing

Success in this role means keeping vehicles, equipment, and testing environments safe, functional, and ready for evaluation. Each day may involve hands‑on vehicle work, system troubleshooting, data collection, and collaboration with engineering and technician teams.

• Maintain the functionality and safety of test vehicles, equipment, and facilities to support reliable evaluation activities.
• Retrofit, install, and maintain advanced driver‑assistance and automated driving sensors, data‑acquisition systems, and related vehicle equipment.
• Execute advanced driver‑assistance and automated driving performance evaluations on public roads and closed test courses.
• Collect, review, and analyze vehicle and system data to support functional and performance assessments.
• Update vehicle system software and confirm proper functionality before testing and evaluation activities.
• Diagnose vehicle and system issues using onboard diagnostic and controller area network tools, technical drawings, specifications, manuals, and wiring diagrams.
• Build test fixtures and safely disassemble, modify, and assemble vehicle systems using hand and shop tools.
• Travel domestically and internationally, approximately 30% to 50%, to support testing and business needs.

What You Bring

• Associate degree in a technical or academic field, or 2+ years of equivalent work experience.
• Hands‑on experience using data‑acquisition equipment to support vehicle or system testing.
• Experience updating vehicle system software, confirming functionality, and providing or receiving troubleshooting support by phone or video conference.
• Experience interpreting electrical system drawings, specifications, manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical standards.
• Experience using onboard diagnostic and controller area network tools to troubleshoot vehicle system issues.
• Valid driver’s license and hands‑on experience using hand and shop tools to build test fixtures and disassemble or assemble vehicles.
