Job summary

Sunstate Equipment Co. is hiring a diesel mechanic in Apache Junction, AZ. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 6AM–5PM with overtime eligibility and weekly pay.

Starting pay ranges from $29–$40 per hour, depending on experience, plus quarterly performance bonuses. This role requires 3+ years in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment repair experience, and strong diagnostic skills. Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic.
• Background in heavy construction equipment or rental.
• Advanced repairs of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and diesel/gas engines on construction equipment and delivery fleet.
• Experience with Tier 4 engines and DPF, SCR, DEF, and EGR aftertreatment systems is preferred.
• Extensive experience with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and heavy equipment repairs.
• Must have the necessary tools to perform repairs.
• Inspect, service, and test equipment per manufacturer specs.
• Strong understanding of schematics, computer diagnostic software, and welding methods.
• Diesel laptop experience is required.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to multitask.
• Safety oriented, adhering to Sunstate safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor and major repairs on gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and drivetrains on equipment and trucks.
• Troubleshoot/diagnose malfunctions and repair equipment.
• Perform novice level welding repairs (MIG & SMAW).
• Inspect, service, and test equipment per manufacturer specs.
• Perform routine service including checking fluids and lubrication.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records, including warranty information.

Position Requirements

• You should have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, with a background in heavy construction equipment or rental required.
• Advanced experience with major & minor repairs of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and diesel and gas engines on construction equipment and delivery fleet.
• Experience with Tier 4 engines and DPF, SCR, DEF, and EGR aftertreatment systems is highly preferred.

• Successfully manage multiple priorities concurrently, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively
• Safety oriented, maintaining industry and Sunstate safety standards performing equipment repairs.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform minor and major repairs on gas and diesel engines, complex hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and drivetrains to include manual and power shift transmissions on equipment and trucks
• Troubleshoot/diagnose malfunctions and repair equipment
• Perform novice level welding repairs (MIG & SMAW)
• Inspect, service, and test equipment, ensuring performance to manufacturer specifications
• Perform routine service on equipment which includes checking fluid levels, changing fluid and lubricating
• Prepare/maintain accurate records on the maintenance and repair of equipment, including warranty records
