Job summary

Daikin Comfort is seeking an experienced FE Technician to support Facilities Engineers in completing diverse projects on site. The role includes on-site recon, CAD vetting, material handling with forklift, and light assembly of fixtures and furniture.

You will perform routine maintenance on building systems, respond to work orders, document activities in CMMS, and assist with small projects while coordinating with contractors and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; valid driver's license.
  • 5+ years as technician; forklift experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs; forklift certified within 90 days.
  • Proven record of accurate CAD vetting and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and utilities).
  • Respond to work orders and troubleshoot basic-to-intermediate system issues.
  • Escalate complex problems to Facilities Engineers or senior technicians.
  • Support equipment uptime and minimize operational disruptions.
  • Document maintenance activities in CMMS (e.g., SAP).
  • Assist with small projects, upgrades, and installations.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractor activities.
  • Assist with updating facility layouts and CAD drawings.
  • Follow safety procedures and support OSHA and environmental compliance.
  • Participate in safety audits and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Communicate status updates and collaborate with operations.

Job description

The FE Technician acts in support of the Facilities Engineers in completing projects in many roles. After being given general instructions the FE Tech must be self-managed in accomplishing all dictated tasks. There will be heavy recon work in/on the site, plant, and office. As in vetting CAD drawings dimensions and accuracy, moving materials with a forklift or pallet jack, vertical lift work, light assembly of fixtures and furniture. Meeting and proposal work including note taking and presentation work. Also, some small projects will be given to this role as a growth vehicle.

Position Responsibilities may include;
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and utilities)
  • Respond to work orders and troubleshoot basic-to-intermediate system issues
  • Escalate complex problems to Facilities Engineers or senior technicians
  • Support equipment uptime and assist with minimizing operational disruptions
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance tasks per established schedules
  • Accurately document maintenance activities in CMMS (e.g., SAP)
  • Identify early signs of equipment failure and recommend corrective actions
  • Assist Facilities Engineers with small projects, upgrades, and installations
  • Support contractor activities, including site access, coordination, and oversight
  • Help track project tasks, timelines, and materials
  • Assist with updating facility layouts, equipment locations, and utility drawings using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD)
  • Maintain accurate documentation of as-built conditions and system changes
  • Support drawing revisions and ensure documentation reflects field conditions
  • Follow all safety procedures and support OSHA and environmental compliance
  • Participate in safety audits, inspections, and corrective actions
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Work with internal teams and external service providers to complete assigned tasks
  • Communicate status updates on work orders and maintenance activities
  • Support cross-functional coordination with operations and engineering teams
  • Perform other tasks as assigned
Nature & Scope
  • Has proficiency in a range of technical processes or procedures through job-related training and work experience
  • Completes a variety of atypical assignments
  • Performs moderately complex and varied tasks
  • Works with a limited degree of supervision, with oversight focused only on complex new assignments
Knowledge & Skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and surroundings. This will be critical when vetting CAD drawings compared to true existing conditions on the floor.
  • Basic Computer skills including data entry.
  • Must be moderately skilled with basic hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Any plumbing or electrical experience would be an advantage but not immediately required.
  • Ability to pick up and deliver MRO items ordered by the department.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely as well as lifts once certified.
  • Ability to pass forklift/lift equipment training classes.
  • Must be eligible to be forklift certified in house within 90 days.
  • Ability to understand and follow work instructions, policies and procedures.
  • Be dependable, work well in a team environment, and establish positive working relationships with employees and customers
Experience
  • 5+ years of technician work.
  • 1 plus years forklift experience strongly preferred.
Education/Certification
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must have Valid driver’s license

People Management: No

Physical Requirements / Work Environment: Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations. The ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 lbs or lift lighter items repetitively or perform 2 man lifts for heavier items. The ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
