Job summary

Bombardier in the Hartford Service Center is seeking an Engine Technician to inspect engines and APUs, perform installations and removals, and ensure airworthiness compliance.

The role requires an A&P certificate and 1–3 years of turbine engine line or shop maintenance experience, plus ability to read mechanical drawings and work across teams in a dynamic aviation environment.

Qualifications

• A&P certificate is required.
• Typically 1–3 years of turbine engine line/shop maintenance experience.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and interpret maintenance manuals.

Responsibilities

• Inspect engines and APUs for wear, damage or corrosion to ensure airworthiness.
• Perform installation, removal or modification of turbine engines/APUs following drawings and orders.
• Document work performed per manuals and regulations and ensure compliance.
• Travel to off-site locations as needed for maintenance and checks.

What are your contributions to the team?

• Adhere to Bombardier General Work Instructions (Factory, Shop and/or Hanger positions)
• Comply with environmental health/safety policies/procedures.

• Perform and document work performed per appropriate manuals and regulations as required
• Inspect engines and/or APUs, components and associated aircraft systems and components for damage, defects, corrosion, or other wear to ensure airworthiness in accordance with appropriate maintenance manuals
• Interpret discrepancies or maintenance logs (written or verbal) to understand history and nature of issue, to troubleshoot and identify required next steps to return to service and/or airworthy condition
• Recommend replacement, repair, or modification of aircraft engines/APUs based on inspection
• Perform installation, removal or modifications of turbine engines/APUs, systems or components, following drawings, schematics, engineering orders, and technical publications
• Perform repairs on worn, defective, or damaged parts or components (e.g., damaged gaskets, lines and couplings), using hand tools, gauges and testing equipment
• Research, read, and interpret technical manuals and guidelines to perform inspections, installations, repairs, or other work activities
• Conduct and assist with engine/APUs and related systems operational checks and functional tests
• Install, remove, or modify aircraft structures, systems, or components, following drawings, schematics, charts, engineering orders, and technical publications
• Inspect completed work to certify that maintenance adheres to standards and procedures, and that aircraft are ready for operation
• Assist other employees in the performance of general aircraft maintenance tasks and their duties within area(s) of qualification
• Assist Aviation Maintenance Technicians in the operation of ground support equipment (GSE), for example, ground power units, hydraulic mules, and oxygen servicing units as needed
• Assist with performing complete engine runs
• Operate ground support equipment
• Assist with off-aircraft component repair
• Perform mechanical/electrical removals and installations
• Perform other duties as assigned
• May assist with maintenance at off-site locations
• Assist with operation of ground support equipment
• Assist with fuel/de-fuel
• Assist with other maintenance disciplines
• Assist in performing complex engine repairs
• Travel on road trips as required, where you can work unsupervised and handle technical issues that may occur

How to thrive in this role?

• A&P Certificate
• Typically, 1-3 years aircraft turbine engine line or shop maintenance or substantiated equivalent experience
• Ability to interpret and work with mechanical engineering drawings
• Experience working on the following engines: GE CF34 and Passport 20, Rolls-Royce BR710 and Pearl, Honeywell TFE731 and HTF7000, and Pratt & Whitney PW305 series
• Preferably have a minimum of one (1) year of experience working on corporate jet aircraft
• Prior work experience on Honeywell and Safran APUs
• Prior work experience with handheld borescopes, measurements and completing condition reports
• Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form on individual and/or aircraft status
• Basic PC skills
