Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH in Hartford Service Center seeks an Aviation Maintenance Technician with an A&P certificate and 1–3 years of turbine engine line or shop maintenance experience. You will read mechanical drawings, interpret maintenance logs, and perform engine/APU disassembly, inspection, repair and reassembly to ensure airworthiness.

Responsibilities include installation and modification of engines/APU systems, following engineering orders and manuals, and participating in safety

• Proven ability to read maintenance manuals and engineering orders.

What are your contributions to the team?

• Adhere to Bombardier General Work Instructions (Factory, Shop and / or Hanger positions)
• Comply with environmental health / safety policies / procedures. Participate in 5-S activities. Perform work ina safe and timely manner
• Perform and document work performed per appropriate manuals and regulations as required
• Inspect engines and/or APU’S, components and associated aircraft systems and components for damage, defects, corrosion, or other wear to ensure airworthiness in accordance with appropriate maintenance manuals
• Interpret discrepancies or maintenance logs (written or verbal) to understand history and nature of issue, to troubleshoot and identify required next steps to return to service and or airworthy condition
• Recommends replacement, repair, or modification of aircraft engines/APU’S based on inspection
• Perform installation, removal or modifications of turbine engines/APU’s, systems or components, following drawings, schematics, engineering orders, and technical publications
• Perform repairs on worn, defective, or damaged parts or components (e.g., damaged gaskets, lines and couplings), using hand tools, gauges and testing equipment
• Research, read, and interpret technical manuals and guidelines to perform inspections, installations, repairs, or other work activities.
• Conduct and assist with engine/APU’s and related systems operational checks and functional tests
• Install, remove, or modify aircraft structures, systems or components, following drawings, schematics, charts, engineering orders, and technical publications.
• Inspect completed work to certify that maintenance adheres to standards and procedures, and that aircraft are ready for operation.
• Assist other employees in the performance of general aircraft maintenance task and their duties within area(s) of qualification.
• Assist Aviation Maintenance Technicians in the operation of ground support equipment (GSE), for example, ground power units, hydraulic mules, and oxygen servicing units as needed
• Assist with performing complete engine runs
• Assist with off-aircraft component repair
• Perform mechanical / electrical removals and installations
• Perform other duties as assigned
• May assist with maintenance at off-site locations
• Assist with operation of ground support equipment
• Assist with fuel / de-fuel
• Assist with other maintenance disciplines
• Assist in performing complex engine repairs
• Travels on road trips as required, where he/she can work unsupervised and handle technical issues that may occur.

How to thrive in this role?

• A&P Certificate
• Typically, 1-3 years aircraft turbine engine line or shop maintenance or substantiated equivalent experience
• Ability to interpret and work with mechanical engineering drawings
• Experience working on the following engines. GE CF34 and Passport 20, Rolls-Royce BR710 and Pearl, Honeywell TFE731 and HTF7000, and Pratt & Whitney PW305 series

Preferably have a minimum of one (1) year of experience working on corporate jet aircraft

• Prior work experience on Honeywell and Safran APU’S
• Prior work experience with handheld borescopes, measurements and completing condition reports
• Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form on individual and / or aircraft status
• Basic PC skills
