Job summary

Bombardier's Hartford Service Center is seeking an Aircraft Engine Technician to inspect engines and APU components, perform installations, repairs and maintenance per manuals to ensure airworthiness and reliable operation.

You will work under supervision, travel as needed, interpret engineering drawings, and support other maintenance tasks. An A&P certificate and 1–3 years turbine engine maintenance experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ability to interpret mechanical engineering drawings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect engines and related systems for wear or damage to ensure airworthiness.
  • Perform installation, removal, or modification of turbine engines/APU’s per drawings and manuals.
  • Conduct and assist with engine runs and functional tests.
  • Travel on road trips as required and assist with off-aircraft component repair.

What are your contributions to the team?
  • Adhere to Bombardier General Work Instructions (Factory, Shop and/or Hangar positions)
  • Comply with environmental health/safety policies/procedures.

  • Perform work in a safe and timely manner
  • Perform and document work performed per appropriate manuals and regulations as required
  • Inspect engines and/or APU’s, components and associated aircraft systems and components for damage, defects, corrosion, or other wear to ensure airworthiness in accordance with appropriate maintenance manuals
  • Interpret discrepancies or maintenance logs (written or verbal) to understand history and nature of issues, to troubleshoot and identify required next steps to return to service and/or airworthy condition
  • Recommend replacement, repair, or modification of aircraft engines/APU’s based on inspections
  • Perform installation, removal, or modifications of turbine engines/APU’s, systems or components, following drawings, schematics, engineering orders, and technical publications
  • Perform repairs on worn, defective, or damaged parts or components (e.g., damaged gaskets, lines, and couplings), using hand tools, gauges and testing equipment
  • Research, read, and interpret technical manuals and guidelines to perform inspections, installations, repairs, or other work activities
  • Conduct and assist with engine/APU’s and related systems operational checks and functional tests
  • Install, remove, or modify aircraft structures, systems, or components, following drawings, schematics, charts, engineering orders, and technical publications
  • Inspect completed work to certify that maintenance adheres to standards and procedures, and that aircraft are ready for operation
  • Assist other employees in the performance of general aircraft maintenance tasks and their duties within area(s) of qualification
  • Assist Aviation Maintenance Technicians in the operation of ground support equipment (GSE), for example, ground power units, hydraulic mules, and oxygen servicing units as needed
  • Assist with performing complete engine runs
  • Operate ground support equipment
  • Assist with off-aircraft component repair
  • Perform mechanical/electrical removals and installations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • May assist with maintenance at off-site locations
  • Assist with operation of ground support equipment
  • Assist with fuel/de-fuel
  • Assist with other maintenance disciplines
  • Assist in performing complex engine repairs
  • Travel on road trips as required, where he/she can work unsupervised and handle technical issues that may occur
How to thrive in this role?
  • A&P Certificate
  • Typically, 1-3 years aircraft turbine engine line or shop maintenance or substantiated equivalent experience
  • Ability to interpret and work with mechanical engineering drawings
  • Experience working on the following engines: GE CF34 and Passport 20, Rolls-Royce BR710 and Pearl, Honeywell TFE731 and HTF7000, and Pratt & Whitney PW305 series
  • Preferably have a minimum of one (1) year of experience working on corporate jet aircraft
  • Prior work experience on Honeywell and Safran APU’s
  • Prior work experience with handheld borescopes, measurements and completing condition reports
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form on individual and/or aircraft status
  • Basic PC skills
