Job Overview
A Lead Engine Technician will perform maintenance, inspection, repair, and installation work on aircraft turbine engines, APU systems, and associated components at Bombardier’s Opa Locka Service Center. The role requires adherence to General Work Instructions, safety policies, and documentation standards, ensuring aircraft airworthiness and operational readiness.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to Bombardier General Work Instructions for factory, shop, or hanger positions.
- Comply with environmental, health and safety policies.
- Participate in 5‑S activities and maintain a safe, timely work environment.
- Perform and document work per maintenance manuals and regulations.
- Inspect engines, APU units, components, and aircraft systems for damage, defects, corrosion, or wear.
- Interpret discrepancies or maintenance logs to troubleshoot and recommend required actions to restore serviceability.
- Recommend replacement, repair, or modification of aircraft engines/APUs based on inspection results.
- Perform installation, removal, or modification of turbine engines/APUs, systems, or components following drawings, schematics, engineering orders, and technical publications.
- Repair worn, defective, or damaged parts or components using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.
- Read and interpret technical manuals and guidelines for inspections, installations, and repairs.
- Conduct and assist with engine/APU operational checks and functional tests.
- Install, remove, or modify aircraft structures, systems, or components while following technical documentation.
- Inspect completed work to certify adherence to maintenance standards and readiness for operation.
- Assist other employees in general aircraft maintenance tasks within areas of qualification.
- Assist Aviation Maintenance Technicians in operating ground support equipment (e.g., ground power units, hydraulic mules, oxygen servicing units).
- Assist with performing complete engine runs, operating ground support equipment, and off‑aircraft component repair.
- Perform mechanical and electrical removals and installations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant License.
- Minimum 8+ years of aircraft turbine engine line or shop maintenance experience, or substantiated equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience on corporate jet aircraft.
- Minimum 1 year of experience on Bombardier aircraft.
- Proficiency in completing engine R&R’s, borescopes, and written reports.
