Immediately hiring a Permanent Full-Time Senior Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Grand Prairie, Texas.

• Hourly Pay: $31.81 per hour
• Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: Ryder pays up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred
• Basic tools required
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
• Routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Basic diagnostics and repairs (AC and electrical systems)
• Three or more years of relevant work experience preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
• Other certifications as required by location

• Additional requirements:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy- and medium-duty equipment
• Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.

• Driving requirement: Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months, pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background checks, including drug and alcohol verification for the last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs, including:
• Standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance
• Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers
• Complete detailed inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Work independently on most tasks
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints
• Utilize shop management systems and electronic documentation
• Comply with safety, DOT, and corporate guidelines
• Mentor Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
• Support operations as needed, including service island support
• Complete SBTIII training within 180 days
• Complete 2 OEM online diagnostic courses as required by location
