Ziegler Rental has an opening for a full-time, experienced Technician to work on compact construction equipment and Allied equipment at our Altoona location. Hours: M-F, 7:00am-3:30pm.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $27.00 to $45.00 – starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, education and location. Pay may vary by up to 10% depending on the applicant’s location.

Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair equipment including skid steers, compact wheel loaders, mini hydraulic excavators, multi terrain loaders, aerial lifts, tele-handlers, and other light and medium construction equipment.
- Assist in preparing new equipment for rent or sale.
- Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Work safely at all times, following company policies, procedures and standards.
- Work collaboratively and assist other technicians as needed with troubleshooting repairs.
- Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and grow product knowledge.
Qualifications
- 2-year technical degree or high school diploma/GED and several years of comparable shop mechanic experience.
- 2+ years of relevant diesel equipment repair experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, electrical, and fuel systems; working on Caterpillar is a plus but not required.
- Ability to write and communicate effectively and interact with supervisors, customers and team members.
- Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems.
- Own mechanic tool set.
- Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- This role is deemed safety sensitive and requires the ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test.
Minimum Physical Requirements
- Push/pull up to 50 lbs.
- Lift/carry up to 60 lbs.
- Lift bulky objects.
- Stand, walk, use hands, talk, hear, rotate neck, rotate trunk, climb stairs, climb ladders, repetitive bending, kneel, sustain squat, reach forward, reach overhead, crawl, lift bins, step on high steps, grip – must be able to use a bolt box.
- Working conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
