Job summary

Ziegler CAT in Sioux City is seeking an Ag/Construction Technician to diagnose and repair Caterpillar heavy equipment, including dozers, excavators, loaders and ag machinery. The role emphasizes troubleshooting skills, safety, and timely documentation of work orders.

Hours are M-F 7am-3pm or 4x10s, with a starting pay range of $27.00 to $45.00 per hour. Benefits include health/dental/vision, PTO, holiday pay, 401(k) with match, HSA contributions, disability insurance, parental leave, and more.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree or HS diploma with 2 years relevant shop experience.
• 2+ years of ag diesel engine/equipment repair preferred.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, electrical and fuel systems; Caterpillar experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment including heavy construction and ag equipment.

The pay range for this position is $27.00 to $45.00

Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, education and location. Pay range may vary 10% depending upon the applicant’s location. Along with competitive pay, full time positions are benefits eligible which includes:

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment including compactors, excavators, loaders, dozers, and other heavy construction equipment, compact equipment, aerial equipment and paving equipment; as well as ag equipment from application, tillage, planting to harvest equipment
• Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
• Work safely at all times, following company policies, procedures and standards
• Work collaboratively and assist other technicians as needed regarding troubleshooting repairs
• Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and grow product knowledge

Qualifications

• 2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or related field; or High school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable shop mechanic experience
• 2+ years of relevant ag diesel engine/equipment repair experience is preferred
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, electrical, and fuel systems; working on Caterpillar is a plus but not required
• Working knowledge of repairing a variety of agricultural equipment; ag technology experience is a definite plus
• Ability to write and communicate effectively and interact with supervisors, customers and team members
• Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems
• Own mechanic tool set
• Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment
• This role is deemed safety sensitive and requires the ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test

• Lift bulky objects
• Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping – able to use bolt box.
• Working Conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
