Job summary

Datadog is seeking a senior technical writer to lead a small team and shape content plans while fostering growth and engagement. You will drive documentation quality and empower writers to deliver clear, actionable content for diverse audiences.

You will collaborate with product managers, developers, and SMEs to produce robust docs for users, developers, and SREs, interviewing experts and reviewing code for accuracy and consistency.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience researching and developing documentation for technical topics.
• 2–5 years leading a small team of technical writers.
• Publicly available technical writing samples.
• Comfort reading at least two programming languages.
• Experience with Docs as Code and CI/CD tooling.

Responsibilities

• Manage 3–5 technical writer direct reports, overseeing day-to-day content plans and their growth.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to create and maintain public docs for users, developers, and SREs.
• Experiment with the product, interview SMEs to research technical details for documentation.
• Collaborate with contributor communities and Documentation team to improve standards and processes.
