Job summary

Saab West Lafayette is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team manufacturing the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk aircraft. You will act as the local SME for technical writing, guide inspectors, and develop best practices to ensure high-quality documentation.

You will produce NCRs, inspection and control plans, FAIs, MRB dispositions, and ensure compliance with ISO9001/AS9100 quality systems. Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM discipline, or 3 years’ related experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in manufacturing quality or related role.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operation is required.
• Ability to articulate technical product/process requirements.
• Effective and concise written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrates a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to work extended hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the local SME for technical writing and provide guidance/training for inspectors across multiple shifts.
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership.
• Identify common/repeated quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Develop best practices for technical writing throughout the organization; maintain/update best practices.
• Responsible for NCRs, Inspection Plans/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions.
• Develop strong working knowledge of customer/industry quality requirements.
• Facilitate controls/solutions to provide high-quality products within schedule.
• Act as primary contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments.
