Job summary

Saab West Lafayette seeks a Technical Writer to join our team manufacturing the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk trainer aircraft. You will serve as a local SME, guide inspectors, and develop best practices in technical writing.

You’ll own NCRs, MRBs, FAIs, and control plans while ensuring alignment with ISO/AS quality standards. The role requires an AS (or BS) in quality/technical writing or related STEM, with manufacturing quality experience, strong written/verbal communication, and

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM discipline OR 3 years’ related experience in a manufacturing quality role required.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operation is required.
• Ability to work with and articulate technical product/process requirements for electro-mechanical assembly.
• Interpret and revise relevant documentation/work instructions for consistency and efficient repetition.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; collaborative problem-solving approach.
• Self-driven with ability to deliver high-quality results across a global team; able to work extended hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as local SME for technical writing and guide inspectors across shifts.
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership.
• Identify recurring quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and update best practices for technical writing organization-wide.
• Prepare NCRs, Inspection/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRBs; support quality requirements per standards.
• Maintain knowledge of customer/industry quality requirements.
• Facilitate controls/solutions to provide high-quality products within schedule.
• Act as primary contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments.
• Contribute to Saab's people-first culture and core values: Trust, Drive, Expertise, Support.
• Other projects and tasks as assigned.
