Job summary

O’Neil & Associates, Inc. seeks a Tech Writer II to lead documentation efforts for operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures, service bulletins, and training materials. You will craft high-quality manuals for heavy-duty equipment in a hybrid work environment and coordinate with engineering teams.

The role requires 2–4 years of technical writing experience, DoD familiarity, and the ability to work overtime as needed. On-the-job training and safety compliance are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in technical or mechanical field or equivalent experience.
• Associate degree in Automotive Repair or related field preferred.
• 2–4 years writing complex technical documents preferred.
• Military and/or mechanical aptitude/experience preferred.
• Experience with DoD preferred.
• Troubleshooting experience on mechanical/electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic systems preferred.
• Familiarity with OEM diagnostic tools (OBD II, CAT ET, Allison DOC, Bendix, Dearborn, WABCO Toolbox).
• Ability to compare source data to produce technical documentation.
• Overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Write technical documents/manuals per customer specs.
• Troubleshoot heavy-duty equipment systems (mechanical/electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic).
• Research data to reuse existing text/illustrations.
• Draft text to meet final product requirements.
• Document and archive technical data for future projects.
• Track and record time spent on projects.
• Communicate status and information needs to management.
• Complete tasks within deadlines and customer specs.
• Follow safety procedures and report violations.
• Assist in training new employees.
