Job summary

Textron Systems is seeking a Level II Technical Writer to support the development of technical manuals for Electronic Systems. You will work under senior writers and engineers to produce accurate, compliant documents, using MS Word and XML tools for multiple publication formats.

Responsibilities include content development, quality reviews, and collaboration with IPTs to ensure on-time delivery. A security clearance is preferred; the role may require handling sensitive engineering data and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred or 2–4 years equivalent work experience.
• Experience developing installation, operation, or maintenance procedures is a plus.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Assist with analysis of engineering data and drawings.
• Develop assigned sections of technical manuals, including equipment descriptions, basic theory of operation, operator tasks, and maintenance procedures.
• Create content in MS Word for page-based manuals and in XML using WebX UltraAuthor, Arbortext, or EAGLE Publishing System as assigned.
• Prepare and edit technical illustrations with support from senior writers and CAD/illustration tools such as NX and Corel.
• Complete edits for accuracy, formatting, and compliance with applicable specifications and standards.
• Work closely with the Lead Writer to ensure tasks meet program requirements and timelines.
• Participate in IPT meetings to gather information relevant to publication tasks.
• Support in-process quality reviews, validation events, and customer review conferences by performing assigned procedures and incorporating feedback.
