RISINGSUN TECHNOLOGIES is seeking a Technical Writer for Maintenance Operations in Pensacola, FL. The role combines technical writing with hands-on equipment inspection within an industrial setting.

You will develop and maintain manuals, work orders, and PM procedures in Maximo, ensuring alignment with OEM specs and internal standards. Strong writing and documentation discipline are essential for this position.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or similar environment.
• Ability to read and interpret OEM manuals, technical drawings, and schematics.
• Excellent written communication and technical writing skills.
• Strong attention to documentation accuracy, consistency, and formatting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and common PDF editing tools.
• Ability to safely climb ladders and stairs, bend, twist, and maneuver in tight or elevated spaces to access equipment.
• Willingness and ability to work early starts, late hours, overtime, and weekends on short notice.
• Flexibility to work any shift, including split shifts and across shifts.

Due to nuclear site access/or export-controlled project requirements, this role requires Candidates must also be willing to work on W2.

Hiring: Technical Writer – Maintenance Operations

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM or 7:00 AM–5:30 PM

Travel: None

Interview Process: First round virtual with cameras on; second round in person. Interviews may include individual and panel discussions.

Bill Rate: $35/hr

Contract Duration: Approximately 12 Months (Possible extension)

Hours: 40 hours/week

About the Role

Must-Have Qualifications

• Familiarity with Maximo or similar CMMS platforms.
• Experience developing job plans and preventive maintenance procedures.
• Understanding of maintenance workflows, labor estimating, and task sequencing.
• Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, user‑friendly instructions.
• Experience collaborating with technicians, supervisors, and engineering teams.
• Knowledge of document control, configuration management, and technical reporting best practices.
• Trade certification or an associate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance.
• Experience standardizing preventive maintenance programs or supporting CMMS improvements and upgrades.
• Knowledge of Lean Maintenance, Reliability‑Centered Maintenance (RCM), or similar methodologies.
