Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. The role supports a fast-paced Quick Reaction Capabilities Integration team under the Army DEVCOM, C5ISR, QRC contract.

Responsibilities include creating, maintaining, and governing technical documentation, ensuring accuracy, and collaborating with engineers, PMs, and SMEs to deliver compliant, clear materials for decision-making and mission success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with five years of experience, or four years in lieu of degree.
• Proven experience developing technical documentation and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Experience creating schedules and using project management tools (POA&Ms).
• Strong command of MIL-STD-38784, MIL-STD-40051E, and ISO/IEC/IEEE 12207-2026.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in Army terminology and formats.

This position will support a fast-paced Quick Reaction Capabilities Integration team under the Army DEVCOM, C5ISR, QRC contract.

Job Responsibilities:

• You will lead the creation, maintenance, and management of technical documentation, including technical reference materials, governance artifacts, and technical baselines.
• Your work will ensure that critical information is clearly, accurately, and effectively communicated to enable both operational and strategic decision-making.
• We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with experience authoring structured technical content, validating documentation for accuracy and compliance, and managing updates to governance and baseline materials.
• This position requires close collaboration with engineers, project managers, and subject matter experts. You will act as the primary authority on technical authorship and enterprise documentation quality, producing high-caliber deliverables that align with customer-defined formats and governance standards.

Qualifications

Required Education:

• Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of relevant experience required; four (4) years of experience considered in lieu of degree.

Required Experience:

• Proven experience developing technical documentation, with extensive knowledge of writing standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Significant experience creating project schedules and management tools, including POA&Ms, to enable timely and efficient delivery.
• Extremely knowledgeable with MIL-STD-38784, MIL-STD-40051E, and ISO/IEC/IEEE 12207-2026.
• Strong understanding of Army terminology, structure and writing styles.

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and tools, Atlassian Jira / Confluence, and Adobe Professional or similar.
• Demonstrated grammatical and spelling skills and an ability to accurately describe technical information in simple, clear language.
• Experience supporting and communicating with senior internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience utilizing Share Point for records management and portal dashboards for reporting.
• Ability to accurately describe technical information in simple, clear language.

Clearance

• Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI eligibility is required. Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain any additional access necessary for the position
