Job summary

Jobtailor in Colorado is seeking an experienced technical writer with a current Top Secret SCI clearance to document complex digital infrastructure.

You will draft and maintain operations manuals, guides, and end-user documentation while leveraging AI tools to speed drafts and ensure accuracy.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current Top Secret SCI clearance with ability to obtain poly prior to start.
• HS diploma/GED and 8+ years of experience, AA and 6+ years of experience, BS/BA and 4+ years of experience, MS/MA and 2+ years of experience, or PhD.
• Exceptional writing, proofreading, and grammar skills.
• Proven ability to distill complex, technical information into clear, concise, and accurate text under deadline pressure.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a larger, multi-writer team.
• Experience utilizing standard office suites and document publishing tools to develop base templates and manipulate output styles.
• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to new environments.

Responsibilities

• Document complex digital infrastructure systems by translating highly technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation.
• Draft, review, and maintain technical documents such as operations guides and SOPs.
• Create SOPs, implementation guides, and end-user documentation.
• Translate technical drawings into formatted publications.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate drafts and improve accuracy.
• Maintain the web-based Knowledge Management portal and repository.
• Coordinate training materials and pre-deployment documents.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and ITSM to capture requirements.
• Explain complex ideas in simple language.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Perform as part of a collaborative writing team to document complex digital infrastructure systems, concepts and actions by translating highly technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation
• Draft, review, and maintain technical documents, including Concepts of operations, software/systems engineering guides, system operations manuals, testing procedures, and user knowledge articles
• Creates clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), implementation guides, customer updates, and end-user documentation
• Translates technical drawings, pamphlets, and engineering consultations into formatted technical publications
• Leverages AI tools and prompt engineering to accelerate initial drafts, generate multiple formatting options, and enhance document accuracy
• Maintains and updates the web-based Knowledge Management portal and document repository
• Coordinates the lifecycle storage of system training plans, Alpha test reports, pre-deployment configuration cut sheets, and logical system diagrams
• Collaborates with engineering, operations, and IT Service Management (ITSM) teams to capture functional requirements or document activities
• Explains complex scientific and technical ideas in simple, concise language
