Job description

Remote (U.S.-based | Preference: TX or East/Central Time Zones)

30–40% Travel (U.S., Canada, Latin America)

We’re partnering with a global energy solutions company that powers critical operations across North and South America. Due to continued growth, they’re hiring a Senior Manager of Technical Training to lead technical capability across a large, hands‑on field technician population.

The audience is field‑based technicians working on generators, diesel engines, HVAC, electrical distribution, and compressed air systems.

What You’ll Own
  • Lead and develop a team of ~8 technical trainers across the Americas
  • 2 trainers in Latin America
  • Build and execute the annual technical learning plan aligned to business priorities.
  • Partner with VPs of Operations, Regional Leaders, HRBPs, and Operational Excellence.
  • Translate workforce insights into a practical, field‑ready execution plan.
  • Drive structured scheduling, delivery, attendance tracking, and reporting (Workday‑based).
  • Ensure technical competency is maintained and elevated across ~70 service centers.
  • Coach and upskill instructors to support new products, safety standards, and evolving operational needs.
  • Serve as the trusted advisor on technical capability and field competence across the Americas.
Must-Haves
  • Industry background in energy, oil & gas, electric, chemical, heavy industrial, or similar.
  • Experience supporting mechanical / technician-based populations (not IT/software training).
  • Proven ability to influence large, matrixed organizations without direct authority.
  • Experience building and delivering large-scale technical training programs.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills — able to handle big personalities and operational politics.
  • 8–10+ years facilitating and leading technical training programs.
Top Candidates
  • Supported training at scale (thousands of technicians, not a few hundred).
  • Are structured, organized, and data-informed.
  • Can turn operational insights into a clear execution roadmap.
  • Are comfortable operating like a project manager — pushing initiatives forward with backbone and accountability.
  • Understand that technician learning must be practical, hands‑on, and field-relevant.

This is a high‑visibility role partnering directly with senior operations leadership across the Americas. If you thrive at the intersection of technical capability, operational excellence, and stakeholder influence, let’s connect!
