About RIDE

RIDE builds electric school buses, transit buses, and commercial trucks (semis and container trucks) in Pasadena and Lancaster, CA. Our customers are some of the largest fleets in the country, and the people who keep those vehicles on the road are some of the best technicians in the nation. We're looking for someone to train them.

The Role

This is a player/coach role. You'll spend part of your time on the road and in the classroom, teaching customer technicians and our own team, and the rest leading a small training team from our Pasadena or Lancaster site.

You'll be the face of RIDE's training to large commercial customers, and you'll build the curriculum behind it. You need real technical credibility, because the people in your room will know their stuff and will quickly spot anyone who doesn't.

What You'll Do
  • Design and deliver technical training for operators, mechanics, and other customer stakeholders on RIDE's electric vehicle lineup
  • Build and run RIDE Academy, our in-house program for our 40-50 technicians, including at regional sites like Lancaster, Indianapolis, and New Jersey
  • Deliver on major commitments, including thousands of training hours for LA Metro
  • Develop courses at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, with outlines, handouts, hands‑on exercises, and evaluations
  • Run post-purchase vehicle training and multi-day technical sessions for customer mechanics
  • Deliver first-responder training on EV battery fires
  • Lead and develop a team of 3-5 trainers and writers, including two remote team members, and address performance issues directly
  • Do skills gap analyses, track training results, and use trainee and instructor feedback to improve
  • Oversee LMS selection and rollout, and make sure new hires complete essential training and certification
  • Act as the main point of contact between customers and Customer Service on training needs and questions
  • Manage the training budget and work with other departments to keep customers happy
What You Bring
  • 3+ years in a technical training manager role or similar
  • A hands‑on automotive technician background
  • Some experience managing people
  • Training experience, including building curriculum and teaching in front of a group
  • Presence and polish when representing the company to large commercial customers
  • Clear communication that makes technical concepts simple
  • Comfort with web-based learning platforms and modern training methods
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Willingness to travel, with most customers in California and a growing national footprint
Bonus points
  • Experience with commercial EVs, or commercial passenger EVs (EV experience is preferred, not required)
  • Familiarity with high-voltage battery systems
  • A training certification such as Certified Technical Trainer
Why This Role
  • You'll shape how some of the best technicians in the country learn to work on electric commercial vehicles
  • You'll have real ownership of a growing program, from the academy to major customer contracts
  • You'll get to teach, build, and lead rather than manage from a desk
Benefits

401(k), health, dental, and vision insurance, HSA, employee assistance program, paid time off, professional development assistance, and relocation assistance.
