Job summary

WestRock Company in Camillus, NY is seeking a Technical Trainer to deliver floor-based technical training, certify operator and craft skills, and collaborate with Operations Learning & Development. The role reports to the site General Manager/Plant Manager and supports onboarding and certification processes.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of on-the-floor training in manufacturing, familiarity with LMS, and strong presentation skills.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years' experience conducting or leading training on the floor in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Forms preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver daily technical training on the floor to certify team members.
  • Partner with OPS L&D to support New Hire Orientation and onboarding.
  • Track, evaluate, and measure local training effectiveness and certifications.
  • Develop relationships with trainees and leaders; participate in hiring considerations.
  • Conduct training across all shifts and promote safety-mindedness.

Title: Technical Trainer

Location: 100 Southern Drive, Camillus, NY 13031

Shift: Must be flexible to work any shift - 1st/2nd/3rd as needed

Overtime: Must be flexible to work overtime as needed, could be daily and/or weekend

Pay: $55k - $93k, Salary Non Exempt

Benefits: Starts on Day 1! (Medical/Dental/Vision/401k) - Salary Non Exempt Benefits

Vacation Time: 3 weeks paid vacation, 1st year prorated to start date, able to use after 30 days of employment

Job Summary

The Technical Trainer assists with training processes locally. The role reports into the site General Manager/ Plant Manager and dotted lines into Operations Learning & Development, to ensure training is completed for Operator/ Craft Job Certification. The role will be a key contact/ trainer for team members, and be responsible for teammate assessments regarding machine skills providing feedback, machine certification responsibility, and conducting assessments related to line of progression movements.

Major Job Responsibilities
  • Completes daily technical training on the floor to assist with the Certification of team members in their
  • roles
  • Partners with OPS L&D leader to support New Hire Orientation/ On Boarding Training, as needed
  • Assists with tracking, evaluating, and measuring training locally
  • Standards & Learning System tools
  • Aids - to assist with training)
  • Develops, builds, and maintains relationships with trainees & leaders in their role
  • Participates in new teammate hiring process
  • involved in interview process to assess industrial experience, and provides perspective on hiring decisions)
  • Conducts training on all shifts
  • Influences others to be safety-minded
  • Team member will be certified through a Train the Trainer process, support managing day to day
  • Certification Processes & will be supported by Ops L&D with training tools & general knowledge content
  • Additional duties as assigned

Technical Skills
  • 1-3 years' experience conducting/ leading training, including On-The-Job training, or similar, in a
  • manufacturing environment preferred
  • 2-4 year's experience a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems preferred
  • Microsoft Office Experience Preferred Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Forms
