Job summary

PETA is seeking a full-time IT Help Desk professional to provide first-line support for hardware, software and applications across Windows and Mac environments. You will log issues, coordinate with internal staff, and ensure timely resolutions in a fast-paced nonprofit setting.

The role requires 2–4 years of experience, on-call availability evenings/weekends, VPN familiarity, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Two to four years of help-desk support experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting Windows workstations/servers and proprietary software/peripherals.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
  • Proficiency with Windows and Apple platforms.
  • Willingness to be on call during evenings and weekends; strong confidentiality.

Position Objective

To provide computer-technology support for PETA and its affiliates

Job Type: Full-time

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide first-level contact and problem resolution for all users with hardware, software, and applications problems
  • Resolve user-reported problems using available tools and following procedures and policies for the handling of support cases
  • Provide accurate and timely logging of problems and resolutions using the support system
  • Act as a liaison between users and internal support staff members in order to assure accurate problem interpretation
  • Provide after-hours and weekend phone support
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
  • Two to four years of help-desk support experience
  • Prior experience troubleshooting Windows workstations and servers as well as supporting proprietary software and peripherals under a variety of operating systems
  • Extensive knowledge and prior experience troubleshooting all Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access)
  • Proficiency with Windows and Apple platforms
  • Proven familiarity with virtual private networks
  • Proven outstanding organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively by phone and in person
  • Proven ability to take initiative and act independently to resolve problems
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
  • Willingness and ability to be on call during evening and weekend hours
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. driver's license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organization

The hourly pay range for this position is $25.96 - $27.75. The ultimate hourly pay within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work.
