Job summary

DMF Lighting is seeking a Technical Support Engineer (Lighting & Controls) to join our customer solutions team in Carson, CA. The role focuses on providing product support, troubleshooting lighting fixtures and digital controls, and escalating advanced issues to engineering.

You will troubleshoot installations, configure systems, document interactions, and collaborate with sales and customers to ensure successful outcomes.Travel up to 25% may be required for on-site support.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or technical school certification in electronics or electrical technology preferred.
• 2+ years in a customer-facing role, preferably in technical support or service.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems and LED lighting; knowledge of lighting control systems (DMX, 0-10V, smart controls) is a plus.
• Strong customer service mindset and ability to communicate clearly with non-technical users.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to document issues and resolutions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for technical inquiries via phone, email, live chat, or tickets.
• Troubleshoot and resolve basic product issues related to installation, configuration, and performance of LED fixtures and lighting controls.
• Provide pre- and post-sales technical support to sales teams and end-users.
• Document customer interactions, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the ticketing system.
• Escalate complex issues to engineering and track progress to resolution.
• Maintain and update internal knowledge base articles and documentation.
• Identify gaps in customer-facing documentation and drive improvements.
• Stay up-to-date with product launches, specifications, and industry standards through training.
• Assist with wiring diagrams or customer training as needed.
• Travel up to 25% to support on-site visits when remote diagnosis is not possible.
