Job summary

General Informatics in Baton Rouge is seeking an Associate Engineer (Level 1 Technical Support) to provide first-line IT support for clients' hardware, software, and network systems during standard business hours.

This full-time role requires after-hours on-call rotation, strong communication, ticketing experience, and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users, with opportunities to grow in an MSP-style environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ year of technical support experience or help desk role
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
• Experience with ticketing systems and remote support tools

Responsibilities

• Provide first-level technical support via phone, email, and ticketing system
• Diagnose and resolve common hardware, software, and network issues
• Create and maintain detailed support tickets for all customer interactions
• Setup and configure new workstations, laptops, and peripheral devices
• Install and upgrade standard software applications and system updates
• Perform basic Active Directory tasks (user management, password resets)
• Escalate complex issues to Level 2/3 support when necessary
• Maintain technical documentation of solutions and procedures
• Demonstrates “Can Do, Will Do!” attitude
• Other duties as assigned
