Job summary

Walbridge is seeking a Technical Superintendent to schedule, coordinate and supervise craft activities on complex facility construction projects. Roles may involve overseeing electricians, boilermakers, carpenters, and other trades, with travel to client sites on a long-term basis.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years supervisory experience in facility construction.
  • Strong mechanical background in data centers preferred.
  • Titles may include Technical Superintendent, Mechanical Superintendent, or Electrical Superintendent.
  • Advanced scheduling and cost control understanding with ability to lead large teams.
  • Experience on commercial/industrial projects valued at $50M+.
  • US driver's license and willingness to travel (70%+).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and supervise Equipment Start Up and Commissioning, and craft activities.
  • Coordinate with Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering.
  • Coordinate work with different crafts and departments or other contractors.
  • Support labor relations, monitor safety programs, and enforce corrective actions.
  • Maintain liaison with engineering, estimating, and planning to ensure drawings and schedules are followed.
  • Resolve productivity issues and manage interfaces across projects.

Overview

Walbridge is looking for Superintendents that know how to and love to build! Schedule, coordinate and supervise craft employee activities. May involve supervising one or more trade groups (electricians, boilermakers, carpenters, etc.) working in particular construction discipline (civil, structural, electrical).

Location

You can be located anywhere in the US, if you are highly willing to travel to our client projects on a long-term basis.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities:

Resource Management: Plan and supervise Equipment Start Up and Commissioning process, Assistant Superintendent (on larger projects) and/or craft activities such as, determining method of construction, workforce levels, material quantities equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documenting actual hours worked. Maintain liaison with other departments such as Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, support craft activities and project schedules.

  • Project Planning and Strategy: Coordinate assigned work with the work of different crafts, company departments, or other contractors.
  • Risk Management: Assist the Labor Relations Department in maintaining communications with unions, resolving jurisdictional disputes, requisitioning required workforce, and as necessary the labor approach for the projects assigned. Monitor craft compliance with project safety program requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
  • Team Leadership: Maintain liaison with engineering, estimating, and planning to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule. Experience assisting in resolving construction problems such as lack of productivity and work interfaces is required.

Overall, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of projects that drive significant growth and innovation within the organization and serve our client's needs.

Qualifications

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • Minimum of 8 years supervisory experience in similar facility construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures required.
  • Strong Mechanical background in Data Centers' experience is preferred.
  • Titles by discipline may include, Technical Superintendent, Mechanical Superintendent, or Electrical Superintendent.
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control and demonstrated ability to control and supervise large groups.
  • Prior experience with Commercial or Industrial project scopes of at least $50M value.
  • A valid driver's license in the US required; and willingness and ability to travel; travel is estimated at 70+%.

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong history of leading, motivating and mentoring cross-functional teams.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, laws, standards, and regulations.
  • Successful background maintaining high safety standards and delivering quality outcomes.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing project strategies, plans, and budgets.
