Technical Sales Representative

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

The selected candidate for the Technical Sales Representative position will work within the aerospace and defense market, promoting 3M Advanced Materials products. Responsibilities include generating end-use material approvals for aerospace & defense applications and possibly other segments. A company car will be provided due to local travel requirements.

As a 3M Account Executive, you will leverage your curiosity and collaborate with innovative professionals worldwide. Your impact will include:

  1. Leading the spec-in activity of 3M Advanced Materials Products with aerospace & defense OEMs and tier suppliers.
  2. Implementing action plans to facilitate the approval of end-use materials.
  3. Understanding strategies of aerospace & defense OEMs and providing market intelligence to shape 3M strategies.
  4. Supporting internal promotion of products across divisions and to external customers.
  5. Being willing to be on-call.

Note: This position requires driving a company vehicle, with pre-employment and ongoing review of motor vehicle history.

Your Skills and Expertise

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • At least three years of experience in the automotive, aerospace, or defense industry as an Application/Product Development Engineer or Materials Engineer.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Additional qualifications that can enhance success:

  • Bachelor’s or higher in Chemical, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering.
  • Five or more years of aerospace experience in materials engineering.
  • Experience working with senior management.
  • Knowledge of aerospace and defense specifications.
  • Experience in technical support, part design, development, validation.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work with ambiguous information.
Work Location & Travel

Remote in California, with up to 25% domestic travel. Relocation assistance may be available. Must be legally authorized to work in the country without sponsorship.

Additional Information

This role involves compliance with U.S. export laws and regulations. Candidates’ U.S. person status and citizenship will be assessed.
