Technical Sales Manager – OHP
Northeast - (MD, DE, NJ, CT, PA & NY (Eastern), RI, NH, VT, ME)

AMGUARD Environmental Technologies (AMGUARD), a business unit of American Vanguard Corporation, specializes in professional solutions and is seeking an experienced sales professional for its OHP brand, which offers ornamental, greenhouse, and Controlled Environmental Agriculture (CEA) technical solutions. OHP is recognized for introducing innovative synthetic and biological technologies into these specialized markets.

The Technical Sales Manager (TSM) will oversee market development and sales of OHP products, including fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, and plant growth regulators within the Greenhouse, Nursery, and CEA markets. The role involves managing and expanding sales by generating demand from end-user customers within the territory and collaborating closely with regional distribution partners.

OHP continuously aims to expand its portfolio through strategic partnerships, label expansions, improved formulations, and in-house R&D initiatives.

This position offers a great opportunity for a professional with strong technical, sales, marketing, and business development skills to join the OHP team. Candidates residing in the Northeast Territory (MD, DE, NJ, CT, RI, NH, VT, ME, PA & NY (Eastern)) with a home office setup, and a passion for Greenhouse, Nursery, and CEA markets are encouraged to apply.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Leverage technical knowledge, communication, and relationship skills to gain distributor support and end-user adoption of OHP products.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with end-user customers.
  • Cultivate new prospects to grow OHP market share.
  • Collaborate effectively with Marketing and Technical teams.
  • Implement OHP sales and marketing programs within the territory.
  • Develop and execute territory-specific market initiatives.
  • Identify emerging segments for the OHP portfolio.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitive influences.
  • Conduct product demonstrations to increase market penetration.
  • Assist the Technical Development team with field research, label expansion, and product development.
  • Provide technical training to customers and influencers.
  • Manage time and travel efficiently across a large multi-state territory.
  • Engage professionally with industry stakeholders and partners.
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in marketing and selling insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, PGRs, and biologicals to relevant markets.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and business skills.
  • Agronomic training or experience preferred.
  • Proven success in meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Entrepreneurial and adaptable mindset.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Customer-focused with good organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to travel overnight and obtain a credit card.
  • Clean driving record and pass background check.
