Position Summary
HPSP is a leading semiconductor capital equipment company providing advanced process solutions to global semiconductor manufacturers.
We are seeking an experienced Technical Sales Manager to manage and grow strategic semiconductor customer accounts in the U.S. and Europe.
This position will serve as a key commercial and technical interface between customers, HPSP’s U.S. organization, and headquarters. The Technical Sales Manager will be responsible for understanding customer technology and manufacturing requirements, developing account strategies, identifying business opportunities, managing commercial negotiations, and coordinating internal resources to successfully execute customer programs.
The ideal candidate combines semiconductor equipment knowledge, strong customer relationship skills, commercial judgment, and the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Customer Support, Operations, Finance, and executive management.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Account Management
- Own and manage key semiconductor customer accounts and serve as a primary business interface.
- Develop strong relationships with customer engineering, procurement, operations, technology, and executive stakeholders.
- Understand customer technology roadmaps, fab investment plans, capacity expansions, and equipment requirements.
- Develop short- and long-term account strategies to expand HPSP’s installed base and business opportunities.
- Conduct regular customer business reviews and internal account reviews.
Business Development & Growth
- Identify new equipment, application, service, upgrade, and expansion opportunities within assigned accounts.
- Develop and execute sales strategies aligned with company revenue, market-share, and strategic objectives.
- Identify customer decision criteria, competitive positioning, and potential barriers to adoption.
- Coordinate internal resources to strengthen HPSP’s competitive position and support business closure.
- Support development of new customers, fabs, and geographic markets as required.
Technical & Solution Selling
- Develop a strong understanding of HPSP equipment, applications, process capabilities, and customer value propositions.
- Translate customer technical requirements into actionable internal business and product requirements.
- Work closely with Engineering, Process, R&D, and Customer Support teams to develop solutions addressing customer needs.
- Coordinate technical evaluations, qualifications, customer demonstrations, and related activities.
- Communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Commercial Management
- Lead quotation strategy, pricing discussions, commercial negotiations, and contract coordination.
- Manage customer purchase processes from opportunity development through purchase order and revenue recognition.
- Balance revenue growth, customer requirements, pricing discipline, and company profitability.
- Coordinate with Finance, Operations, Logistics, and HQ regarding delivery commitments, payment terms, and commercial conditions.
Forecasting & Business Planning
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, opportunity pipelines, and customer investment projections.
- Develop annual and multi-year account forecasts.
- Monitor changes in customer capital spending, fab schedules, technology transitions, and competitive activities.
- Provide management with clear assessments of opportunities, risks, and required actions.
- Support annual business planning and regional sales strategy development.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Coordinate customer programs across Sales, Engineering, Customer Support, Operations, Finance, and headquarters.
- Drive alignment and accountability for major customer commitments.
- Escalate critical customer, technical, commercial, or schedule issues appropriately.
- Represent the customer internally while balancing customer needs with HPSP’s business priorities.
- Provide customer and market feedback to support product roadmap and organizational decision-making.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Business, or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in semiconductor equipment, semiconductor manufacturing, technical sales, account management, business development, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience managing major semiconductor customers or complex technical accounts.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing environments and capital equipment business processes.
- Proven ability to develop customer relationships and manage complex commercial discussions.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively across multiple functions, organizations, and geographic regions.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Preferred
- Experience with semiconductor capital equipment suppliers.
- Experience supporting advanced semiconductor manufacturing fabs.
- Experience managing equipment sales cycles involving evaluation, qualification, purchase, installation, acceptance, and service.
- Experience working with global or Korea-headquartered organizations.
- Korean language capability is a plus.
