Overview

Our Client is seeking a Technical Product Owner / TPM based in Chicago to lead the evolution of their retail fueling software.

While you will be based in Chicago, you will lead a highly skilled, distributed engineering team located in Austin, Dallas, and other tech hubs. This role is perfect for a technical leader who thrives in a remote-first culture and understands the nuances of managing IoT solutions across both Azure and AWS.

Position Responsibilities
  • Remote-First Leadership: Orchestrate delivery across a distributed team (Austin, Dallas, etc.). You will be the "glue" that keeps remote developers aligned with the product vision through clear documentation and high-bandwidth communication.
  • Product Backlog & Strategy: Own the roadmap for their two flagship offerings. Translate complex business needs into refined user stories for a senior-level C# engineering team.
  • Bridge Azure & AWS environments: Oversee our primary development in Azure while managing the lifecycle of our AWS-hosted wireless device solutions & any future migration strategy from one host to other.
  • Technical Integrity: Partner with architects to ensure our C# solutions leverage the latest framework capabilities, focusing on scalability and industrial-grade reliability.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary contact for leadership, providing transparent reporting on sprint progress, risks, and release timelines.
The successful candidate will have/possess
  • Proven leadership, project management and technical skills.
  • Skilled at staffing and resource management.
  • Strong understanding of both waterfall and agile project methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience managing risk and driving corrective actions as a part of project delivery.
  • Adept at influencing stakeholders and cross-functional teams while achieving successful solution delivery.
  • Customer focused, both internal and external.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
Qualification Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of total experience as a Technical PO or PM, including 2 years in a management or lead position.
  • Technical Depth: Strong professional background in the C# / .NET ecosystem.
    1. Direct experience with Microsoft Azure (primary) and AWS (secondary).
    2. Experience with IoT or hardware-to-cloud management is a massive plus.
  • Distributed Workflow Mastery: Expert-level proficiency with Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools to manage work across time zones.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills—critical for succeeding in a remote-first team environment.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Modern Remote Culture: Needed to work with a talented team across Austin, Dallas, and beyond, utilizing the best in collaborative technology.
  • Cutting-Edge Tech: Knowledge of the latest C# and cloud-native architecture.
