Job summary

ARMADA INC. is seeking a Technical Planner Trainee to join the shipyard planning group. This full-time role reports to the Planning and Execution Manager and offers a pay range of $25.00-$27.00 per hour DOE.

The position develops plans for execution, procures technically accurate materials, and writes technical work instructions for the production team. The trainee position involves on-site reviews of shipboard conditions, proper filing of documentation, and maintaining accurate work status.

Qualifications

SUMMARY

Assist planning team to develop plans for executing work, identifying technically accurate material for procurement, and writing technical work instructions for the production/execution team. This position also includes conducting on-site reviews of shipboard conditions, proper filing of documentation, providing accurate work status, and other duties as assigned. This is a trainee position, and initial responsibilities and assignments may be limited in scope to promote accelerated competency in specific areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Production Planning and Execution- (Core Function)
• Assist with structural inspections at designated locations.
• Obtain IMIA's structural inspector certification.
• Identify, document and report deficiencies found onboard naval vessels.
• Work with production team to develop structural plans.
• Assist in developing work packages for production use.Learn to review work specifications and technical standards to develop work instructions for trades use.
• Learn to interpret NAVSEA drawings, standards, and specifications.
• Determine Objective Quality Evidence requirements from guidance documents.
• Material Planning
• Learn to develop job material list from technical references and drawings.
• Learn to determine material and quantities of material required to perform the work.
• Resolve technical specification conflict or suitable substitutes.
• Assist purchasing with finding qualified vendors.
• Other duties as assigned.

• None

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Ability to enter and work in confined spaces.
• Ability to communicate effectively and multi-task.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Programs

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma, GED.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Most work is performed in a shipyard environment under pressure, fast-paced conditions.
• Within the shipyard, minimal exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, confined spaces.
• May require overtime work 50 to 60 hours per week
