Job summary

ARMADA INC. is seeking a Technical Planner Trainee to assist in developing execution plans and identifying materials for procurement. You will write technical work instructions for production teams and conduct on-site shipboard condition reviews, while maintaining proper documentation.

This trainee position offers hands-on experience in structural planning, NAVSEA standards interpretation, and collaboration with the production team to build effective work packages.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in a shipyard environment under pressure.

Summary

Assist planning team to develop plans for executing work, identifying technically accurate material for procurement, and writing technical work instructions for the production/execution team. This position also includes conducting on-site reviews of shipboard conditions, proper filing of documentation, providing accurate work status, and other duties as assigned. This is a trainee position, and initial responsibilities and assignments may be limited in scope to promote accelerated competency in specific areas.

  • Assist with structural inspections at designated locations.
  • Obtain IMIA's structural inspector certification.
  • Identify, document and report deficiencies found onboard naval vessels.
  • Work with production team to develop structural plans.
  • Learn to review work specifications and technical standards to develop work instructions for trades use.
  • Learn to interpret NAVSEA drawings, standards, and specifications.
  • Determine Objective Quality Evidence requirements from guidance documents.
  • Material Planning
  • Learn to develop job material list from technical references and drawings.
  • Learn to determine material and quantities of material required to perform the work.
  • Resolve technical specification conflict or suitable substitutes.
  • Assist purchasing with finding qualified vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education And Experience
  • High school diploma, GED.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Most work is performed in a shipyard environment under pressure, fast-paced conditions.
  • Within the shipyard, minimal exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, confined spaces.
  • May require overtime work 50 to 60 hours per week
