Job summary

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) seeks a Technical Operations Manager for PracticePoint to oversee MEIC operations, scheduling, and equipment maintenance. You will ensure safety and regulatory compliance while enabling researchers and external members to access advanced imaging and surgical tools.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Biomedical or Medical Robotics Engineering or closely related field; PhD preferred.
• Two or more years of hands-on experience with medical imaging equipment operations (MRI, C‑arm, ultrasound).
• Previous research in Biomedical or Medical Robotics areas preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office, databases, and information systems.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently to accomplish position requirements and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage MEIC operations: scheduling, technical support, billing/invoicing, and equipment maintenance.
• Research potential members, conduct facility tours, and plan client use to maximize effectiveness.
• Participate in PracticePoint events: pre-lab setup, intra-lab support, and post-lab follow-up.
• Collaborate with PracticePoint Director and staff on research in robotics, AI, imaging, and materials.
• Oversee facility maintenance and upgrades to meet researchers' needs.
• Obtain and maintain training credentials for all equipment and safety compliance with EH&S and committees.
• Monitor access control and coordinate scheduling and charge rates for users.
