Job summary

HCLTech is seeking a Java Senior Technical Manager to lead enterprise-grade Java applications in a fast-paced banking technology environment. The role requires deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, Kafka, GoLang, AWS Lambda, and Terraform.

You will drive cloud-native architecture decisions and set coding and delivery standards. You will lead end-to-end delivery for multiple banking initiatives, manage a ~75-engineer team across onsite, offshore, and nearshore locations,

Qualifications

• 15+ years of IT experience with 5+ years in Technical/Engineering Management.
• Proven expertise in Java, Spring Boot and microservices architectures.
• Experience with REST APIs, Kafka, GoLang, AWS Lambda and Terraform.
• Experience managing large engineering teams (50-100 members).
• Strong customer-facing, solutioning and delivery governance skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide architectural and technical leadership for enterprise-grade Java applications.

• Establish engineering standards, secure coding, CI/CD and DevOps practices.

Job Title: Java Senior Technical Manager

Position Type: Full-time

Onsite: Onsite (No remote)

Experience range: 15+ years

Mandatory required skills:

15+ years of IT experience with 5+ years in Technical/Engineering Management.

Experience in:

• Spring Boot & Microservices
• REST APIs
• Kafka/Event Streaming
• GoLang
• AWS Lambda
• Terraform & Infrastructure as Code

Experience managing large engineering teams (50-100 members).

Strong customer-facing, solutioning, and delivery governance experience.

Proven experience in Banking and Financial Services domain.

Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred skills:

SAFe Agile / Scrum certifications.

Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, API Gateway, CI/CD, GitHub, DevSecOps.

Exposure to AI-assisted SDLC and GitHub Copilot-driven engineering practices.

Experience managing globally distributed teams across onsite, offshore, and nearshore locations.

Technical Leadership

• Provide architectural and technical leadership for enterprise‑grade applications built using Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, Kafka, GoLang, AWS Lambda, and Terraform.
• Drive API‑first, event‑driven, and cloud‑native architecture adoption.
• Establish engineering standards, secure coding practices, CI/CD, and DevOps best practices.
• Oversee solution design reviews, performance optimization, scalability, resiliency, and production readiness.

Delivery Management

• Own end‑to‑end delivery for multiple banking technology initiatives.
• Manage scope, schedules, risks, budgets, resource plans, and delivery commitments.
• Ensure adherence to Agile/SAFe methodologies, quality standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Track and improve delivery KPIs, productivity, and operational excellence.
• Serve as the primary technology interface for customer leadership and business stakeholders.
• Lead solutioning discussions, technical workshops, estimations, and strategic roadmap planning.
• Build trusted relationships with customer executives and technology teams.
• Drive stakeholder alignment and proactive communication on program status, risks, and opportunities.
• Lead and mentor a team of approximately 75 engineers, tech leads, and developers.
• Build scalable engineering teams through hiring, coaching, succession planning, and career development.
• Foster a high‑performance engineering culture focused on innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Manage performance, capacity planning, and team utilization across multiple workstreams.
• Deliver solutions across Retail Banking.
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, regulatory, and risk management standards.
• Partner with business stakeholders to modernize banking applications and improve customer experience.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range Minimum: $125,000 per year

Pay Range Maximum: $184,000 per year

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their work location, skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance‑based bonuses subject to company policies. In addition, this role is eligible for performance‑based bonuses subject to company policies: medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, life, accidental death & dismemberment, and disability insurance; employee assistance program; 401(k) retirement plan; 10 days of paid time off per year (some positions are eligible for need‑based leave with no designated number of leave days per year); and 10 paid holidays per year.
