Job summary
Electric Power Research Institute, Inc. seeks a Technical Leader I to conduct high‑impact research in transmission planning and long‑term system planning.

The candidate will apply power system simulation, optimization, probabilistic assessment, and risk‑based planning to support investments, while mentoring junior staff and contributing to proposals and industry
Qualifications
- Experience with transmission planning, reliability, resilience, interconnection, risk-based planning, or integrated system planning.
- Proficiency with Python or similar programming tools used to automate technical studies and analytical workflows.
- Familiarity with utility, ISO/RTO, regulatory, and stakeholder planning processes.
- Familiarity with agentic AI applications and their potential use in power system planning workflows is strongly desired.
Responsibilities
- Performs transmission planning, transmission reliability, resilience, and interconnection studies.
- Develops long-term planning scenarios and evaluates future transmission needs across multiple horizons.
- Designs and implements Python-based automation to improve efficiency of planning studies.
- Communicates methods, findings, and recommendations to engineering, management, regulatory, and executive audiences.
